Executive Vice President, Business Development & Strategy - Ingram Micro
John Soumbasakis serves as EVP, Business Development and Strategy. He is responsible for global go to market activities including vendor engagement, business intelligence, new business innovation and web commerce, as well as strategy, M&A and competitive intelligence. He was named to the position in July 2015.
In his 12+ year tenure with Ingram Micro, Soumbasakis most recently served as EVP & President, Technology Solutions Asia Pacific. He was responsible for driving the region’s overall strategy development, execution and performance. The region delivered record quarterly revenues and operating profit under his leadership. He was in the position from August 2013 through July 2015.
Prior to that role, Soumbasakis served as President, Latin America where he championed and led the efforts to rebuild the company's operations in Brazil, returning the country to strong growth and significantly improving operating results after many quarters of underperformance. The Latin America region also regularly delivered record quarterly revenues and operating profitability under his leadership. He served in this role from May 2011 through July 2013.
From 2003 - 2011 Soumbasakis served various roles within the North America region. He served as SVP for Ingram Micro’s Specialty Solutions Division from 2008-2011, responsible for five businesses: Data Capture/Point-of-Sale (POS), AVAD and DBL within Ingram Micro Consumer Electronics, and the Mobility and Physical Security businesses. From May 2005 through July 2008, Soumbasakis served as VP and general manager, Data Capture/POS Division. His initial role from January 2003 – April 2005 was VP, corporate business development, in which he supported a broad North America restructuring program by managing 36 implementation teams across all functional areas. He also led the identification and analysis of new markets and evaluated potential acquisition targets.
Before joining Ingram Micro, Soumbasakis was a principal for The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), an international strategy and general management consulting firm. While at BCG, he consulted with a wide range of clients regarding business restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and strategy development and implementation. Soumbasakis holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and received his bachelor of arts in economics from Yale University.
